The J. Mendel FW 2013 collection exemplified the season trend of using leather and fur. Some of the pieces had dark leather sections with stitched patterns, juxtaposed with fur details. While others were feminine fur coats with elegant yet body hugging lines. Most pieces were form fitting including some metallic raised Asian pattern pieces, while others did have more loose fitting bottoms. The primary colors used were white, gold, dark brown, and few darker metallics. Of particular interest on some pieces, such as the white sweater top, was the use of zippers and stitching to make the piece more versatile and customizable. Some of the dresses had a good amount of silver beaded detail work. The broad heals of the shoes had a shinny orange metallic finish, which at certain angles reflected light back to the viewer, while at other angles appeared dark. –Cecilia Videcel
